Why do you need business insurance?

No matter how carefully you run your business and follow best practices, you still face the risk of an employee, or former employee taking legal action against you. This has only been heightened by the recent decision by The Supreme Court in 2017 to rule that the government was acting unlawfully and unconstitutionally when it introduced employment tribunal fees back in 2013.

In the year to June 2013, employment tribunals received on average 15,000 cases per quarter*, and since the introduction of early conciliation in April 2014, the average number of cases notified to ACAS to June 2017 exceeds 20,000 per quarter**

To assist businesses, combat employment risks, Quest has introduced Business Insurance Employment Protection Insurance (EPI) as an additional benefit to our support services. Unlike a normal Legal Expenses Insurance (LEI) policy our insurance, underwritten by ARAG plc, has the following benefits:

Includes cover for representation throughout the ACAS conciliation process and at tribunal
No prospect of success clause (many LEI policies require claims to have 51% or greater prospects of success)
Cover for awards – these can run into several thousand pounds
A limit of indemnity covering up to £150,000

As a result of our enhancements it has more in common with an Employment Practices Liability (EPL) insurance than the standard LEI
