Gas safety is not just for Christmas

Gas safety - when did you last have yours checked?

Gas safety is paramount and therefore should be checked at least annually.  However, not everyone adheres to this and consequently the last five years has seen an increase in house fires.  This is occurring in houses with gas appliances and happens on Christmas Day more than any other day of the year.

So while you are tree-decorating and present-wrapping, give gas safety a thought.  New research from Gas Safe Register also found that just 5% of people surveyed listed gas safety as a priority in the run up to Christmas.  Just under a fifth (19%) of homes have not had their gas appliances legally checked this year, leaving up to 12 million people potentially at risk.

The Gas Safe Register has highlighted the worrying facts here. The Gas Safe Register is a list of gas engineers who are registered to work safely and legally on gas appliances.  They also offer plenty of help and advice to keep you safe, not only at Christmas but all year long.
