The Question:
What can HSE Inspectors do?

They can make unannounced visits, carry out inspection of the premises, machinery, equipment, speak to staff and seize documents and disable dangerous equipment.
The Risk/Threat:
They can serve a Prohibition Notice to stop a particular task, activity or equipment. They can also serve an Improvement Notice, requiring repairs/modification within a set time. In serious cases, they can prosecute employers leading to criminal fines and incur legal costs.
